Being a Tourist In and Around Nanjing
{Top Ten Things Our Daughter Really Enjoys Doing in Nanjing}
1. Visiting the Nanjing Social Welfare Institute and seeing our daughter's original Caregivers, Fan Da Zhen and Yao Song Ting.
2. Visiting with Wu An An and Zhou Bo of Amity and seeing the Foster Care children in their happy village homes.
3. Helping the Nanjing SWI to purchase the following: refrigerator, combination air-conditioner/ heater unit for the infants to use, and tape recorders for the older students to listen to language tapes.
Value of these items - a pittance. Value to our daughter knowing that we helped these children - priceless.
4. Our trip to Shanghai to see friends. We had a great time visiting the Bund and taking the elevator to the top of the Pearl TV Tower.
5. Motor boat rides in the Xuan Wu Hu Gong Yuan (Xuan Wu Lake Park). Only in China would they let an eight year old drive a boat with out signing any waivers, etc.
6. Swimming in the pool at the Jin Ling Hotel with water falls. The weather was at 100 degrees outside and swimming in the cool water at noon time was excellent.
7. Riding the chairlift up Zi Jin Shan (Purple Mountain).
8. Walking up the scenic Sun Yat Zen Mausoleum.
9 . Walking and shopping at the shops nearby Xin Jie Kou and Fu Zi Miao (Confucius Temple).
10. Visit to Nanjing Brocade Research Institute where they have made beautiful silk fabrics for centuries.
