Summer Scoops Live with the Wall Street Journal
East Meets West on the Upper West Side
Announcing a new way to experience The Wall Street Journal's award-winning arts and culture coverage: live and up-close at Lincoln Center. Join your favorite Journal writers in dynamic discussions with cultural innovators from the worlds of music, dance and film. You'll get a peek not only behind the scenes, but also behind the headlines.
The inaugural season of the Summer Scoops Live with The Wall Street Journal series kicks off Wednesday, July 1, with a conversation about border-crossing and barrier-breaking between the Journal's former China correspondent Geoffrey Fowler, modern dance choreographer Shen Wei and installation and pyrotechnic artist Cai Guo-Qiang.
Don't miss this opportunity to see New York through the eyes ofthe celebrated creators of the most dazzling moments of the 2008 Olympics Opening Ceremonies in Beijing, who chose to build their careers here rather than in their native China. Cai's politically charged works and his "explosion events," featuring gunpowder and fireworks, were the subject of a 2008 solo retrospective at the Guggenheim, the best attended visual arts show in the museum's history. Shen's innovative blend of traditional Chinese dance and Western modern technique won him a MacArthur "genius" grant and an unprecedented five commissions from the Lincoln Center Summer Festival.
There are many more exciting events lined up for the season, including Movie Night With The Lumets (director Sidney and screenwriter Jenny) and Mossberg, Moby, Music and More, so after you've purchased your tickets for East Meets West, be sure to check out the complete schedule at WSJ.com/live.
We hope to see you on July 1 and throughout the summer!
For tickets, visit WSJ.com/live, call CenterCharge at 212.721.6500 or go to the Avery Fisher Hall or Alice Tully Hall Box Office (Broadway at 65th Street).

MOCA's Chinatown Film Project Premiere
Wed, Jul 1 from 7pm 9:30pm
Chinatown is an evocative place. It exists in our cities, in our imaginations, on our television screens, and in our memories. It is at once a sprawling, vibrant immigrant community and a forgotten strip mall of buffet restaurants. Chinatown is the ultimate Hollywood metaphor and a space where families still live.
The Chinatown Film Project tackles Chinatown's elusiveness and its stereotyped representations by constructing new images for the viewer. The project starts locally, where we ask ten of New York's most exciting filmmakers to present their unique visions of this global icon.
Featuring ten original short films:
The Guy with the Cigarette directed by Miguel Arteta
Church Basement Bomb Shelter directed by Patty Chang
New York Night Scene directed by Jem Cohen
Kiwi Lotion directed by Cary Fukunaga
I Cant Wait directed by So Yong Kim & Bradley Rust Gray
Fortune Cookie directed by Amir Naderi
Chinatown: In Their Own Words directed by Sam Pollard
Five Approaches directed by Shelly Silver
Sunday at 6 directed by Rose Troche
Tuesday directed by Wayne Wang & Richard Wong
Special Opening Trailer directed by Richard Wong
Screening followed by Q&A and reception.
A limited number of tickets are available for the CFP Premiere. General Admission $20; MOCA members $15. Please email education@mocanyc.org for more information.

The First Asian American ComiCon (AACC)
Sat, Jul 11 from 10am 5pm
MOCA, in collaboration with Secret Identities Universe Media, Asian American Writers Workshop, Asian CineVision, AsianAmericanComics.com. NYU Asian/Pacific/American Institute and Diamond Comics Distributors, presents a day-long event that explores the unique contemporary role and historical legacy of Asians and Asian Americans in the world of comics and graphic fiction.
Unlike most comic cons, AACC is designed as a full-day experience, giving you the chance to listen to, learn from and engage with top creators in both casual and structured settings. In fact, you might want to think of the "Con" in Asian American ComiCon as representing not "convention," but "conference"or even "conversation."
The event will bring together leading Asian and Asian American creators, fans and readers of mainstream and alternative graphic fiction, and the larger Asian American community for a one-of-a-kind gathering, incorporating education, dialogue, spontaneous creativity, intergenerational outreach and the chance for established and emerging talent to show off their work.
The day's program includes both free-form opportunities to interact with artists, writers and fans (the Artists Alley, signing sessions and "meet &greets"), dynamic panels, workshops and one-on-one interviews, and a special keynote and award presentation honoring comics superstar and G.I. Joe mythology creator Larry Hama.

We Have Another Amazing Camp Planned!
We are thrilled to have a very exciting program lined up at camp this year. We're particularly thrilled to welcome Rose "Mama" Rock, author who parented over 27 children, included comedian Chris Rock! Parents will attend a wide range of meaningful educational and recreational programming on parenting, adoption and race with an outstanding staff. We will also offer for adults and kids a huge range fun things: a swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts, skate park, playground, climbing wall and a thrilling zip line. We are planning a special teen program and Teen Village for our older youth, and a film project headed up by adult adoptee and award-winning filmmaker Phil Bertelsen ("Outside Looking In"). Click here for program details.
There will be three housing options available to families who come to camp: families may stay in rustic cabins or lodge rooms. Click here for full descriptions of all the housing options and prices.
What will camp cost? As usual, we have a sliding scale for all families. Click here for details regarding program costs.
Given these difficult economic times, we need to be assured that a minimum number of families will commit to Pact Camp before we know that it will be financially feasible for Pact to hold the camp. We will need to have a minimum number of families registered by the end of February, so if you think your family wants to attend camp this summer, please do not delay in registering. This year, there will also be a 10% Late Registration Fee for anyone registering after April 20th.
Register for Camp NOW!

We are excited to be planning our 7th family camp and hope that both new and returning families will join us this year. Please visit our online camp home to learn more about all aspects of camp, and click here to see a fabulous slide show from past camps. See you at camp!!
Avoid Late Registration Fees! We really need an early commitment from families this year to determine whether or not we will have the minimum number of attendees necessary to make camp feasable this year. Please don't delay in signing up for camp; there will be a 10% late registration fee for those signing up after April 20th.
