Hello FCC Community,

The Adoptee Board is excited to announce that later this year we will be launching an FCC Mentorship Program! With the Mentorship Program, we hope to bring adoptees together by having adoptees over the age of 18 mentor other adoptees under the age of 18 during the academic year (October 2019 - June 2020). Our goal is to foster a strong community within FCC and allow young adoptees to have a role model who has a similar identity and life experiences. This program is not meant to replace Girls Connect or any of the other groups that already exist. We hope that adoptees will join us in this new, wonderful experience!

We will be capping this year’s inaugural program at 10 pairs (10 mentees, 10 mentors). Mentors must be 18 years old and up, mentees must be from the ages of 10 to 17. Applicants must have active FCCNY membership and must be based in the New York metro area during the academic year. Participation for both roles will be first come first served. It will be ultimately up to the mentee and mentor when they want to meet and where. We request that you meet in a public place once monthly (i.e. a coffee shop) and take a picture together to send to us as proof. We are excited to also plan bi-monthly outings (i.e. bowling, picnics, ice skating) for all mentees and mentors to get together— further details to come upon registration. These bi-monthly outings will be around $20 each totaling to about $100.

If this is of any interest to you or your child, please register by July 1st. We’ll send you a questionnaire to fill out shortly after and will begin pairing partners over the summer. We are aiming to launch the start in October.

Please email Rhianna at rhiannarosehopkins@gmail.com for further questions!

Best,

The Adoptee Board
